June 19 2008
As usual, I have been a slack ass on the updating of my website. Me bad. I have excuses. Many of them. But I won’t bore you with most of them, except to say that I have been bamboozled by the technology a little up until now. Then, this afternoon I sat down with my laptop and stared at the Wordpress files on my website until some of it started to make sense. I even updated the Bookshelf section all on my own so it now has all my books to date, including excerpts and behind the scenes information. Anyone who is computer savvy is laughing into their cappuccino right now, but I am aglow with a sense of achievement. It doesn’t take much these days.
Right, the update:
Below the Belt is out in the US this month (June!). Romantic Times gave it 4 1/2 stars and Top Pick for the month, which is lovely.
Island Heat, book 10 in the Mediterranean Nights series, is a finalist in the R*BY Awards (Romantic Book of the Year) in Australia. It was wonderful to receive an email out of the blue informing me of the news. The winner will be announced in August, but I am simply chuffed to be included with the other 5 finalists. And as I will be attending my first Romance Writers of Australia conference this year, it’s extra special.
Next month (July!) will see the release of the Hot City Nights anthology featuring myself, Sandra Marton and Emilie Rose. I just got my author copies the other day and was thrilled to death to be included with two such great writers. Talk about being the meat in a top-class sandwich! (ummm…perhaps I should explain at this point that my book is the second in the anthology and therefore in the middle of the book…?) My contribution to the anthology is called Back to You (thanks Samantha Hunter for the title!) and is about Becky and Cal, former young lovers who have a second chance to get it right as adults. All of the stories in the anthology involve children in some way - secret babies, unexpected pregnancies, instant parenthood when a sibling dies tragically. They’re also all pretty saucy reads.
Then! Amorous Liaison hits the streets in October. Another Blaze, it features Maddy and Max and is my take on the classic “best friends falling in love” scenario, written from the side of the man being secretly in love with the woman. I’ve had a lot of feedback from readers about how much they enjoyed Anything For You, and I have been wanting to tell the story from the man’s point of view for a long time. Maddy is a ballet dancer, while Max is trying to get his life back on track after nursing his paraplegic father for several years. It’s set in Paris, and it was lovely drawing on my two visits to Paris for source material.
As for 2009… Well, I am writing my first Super Romance at the moment for Harlequin, and I have several Blaze books under contract. It’s going to be a full and busy year.
I hope you’re all well. And now that I have conquered my technophobia, I will try to be more diligent on the blog front. Cheers for now
Sarah
